Resident Evil has passed $400 million worldwide, according to the November 3 box-office roundup from One Man's Movies.

In mainland China it was No. 1 for a fourth consecutive weekend, with RMB 28.5 million ($4.3 million) that weekend, taking its China total to $71.3 million since its October 5 opening.

The film's staying power in China has been the engine of its global run, with audiences returning week after week well beyond the usual opening-weekend window.

The overall Halloween weekend was one of the slowest of the year in North America, roughly $55 million to $60 million in total, with no major new Hollywood wide release to challenge the holdovers.

Against that quiet backdrop, Resident Evil's $400 million milestone stands out as a rare bright spot for theatrical releases this autumn.
