GEORGIA 27, FLORIDA 8: BULLDOGS' DEFENSE SUPPLIES THE ANSWER IN ATLANTA

Georgia's offensive performance was far from convincing — just 101 passing yards — but the Bulldogs' defense controlled the line of scrimmage, limited Florida's Jadan Baugh to 38 yards on 17 carries, and recorded 11 tackles for loss in a 27-8 rout.

The result was comfortable. Georgia's offensive performance was considerably less convincing — but the Bulldogs' defense supplied the answer in Atlanta on Saturday.

Georgia managed only 101 passing yards, and Gunner Stockton completed 13 of 23 attempts without a touchdown. But Georgia controlled the line of scrimmage defensively, limiting Florida's Jadan Baugh to 38 yards on 17 carries and recording 11 tackles for loss.

Quarterback Aaron Philo, returning from a shoulder injury, threw an interception to Ellis Robinson IV on the Gators' opening possession. Peyton Woodring converted a 28-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead.

Georgia then put together its best sustained offensive possession of the half, moving 81 yards in 10 plays. Bo Walker scored from a yard out to make it 17-0 with 1:55 remaining.

The decisive play came before halftime. Florida had replaced Philo with Tramell Jones Jr. and was finally moving the football when Quintavius Johnson pressured Jones from the blind side and forced a fumble. Chris Cole recovered and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown, and instead of entering halftime with momentum, Florida trailed 24-0.

The Gators finally scored with 6:59 remaining after recovering a Talyn Taylor fumble, with Jones running 2 yards for the touchdown and Florida converting for two points. Woodring answered with a 21-yard field goal, completing the scoring at 27-8 — a win that keeps Georgia atop the SEC as the conference's last one-loss team.
