Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its first AI-powered smart glasses, called Intelligent Eyewear, in mid-December, according to a report from BigGo Finance citing industry sources.

The report, covered on October 30, says the glasses will initially launch in South Korea and the US only. Samsung itself has not confirmed the launch date, so the December timing remains unconfirmed.

Samsung could adopt a phased launch strategy, with markets such as Europe and China excluded from the initial rollout. The company is expected to assess customer feedback and demand in South Korea and the US before expanding further.

The glasses were first showcased at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event in London in July. They run on Google's Android XR platform and Gemini AI, have built-in cameras, and are confirmed to ship with Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset.

They are designed to enable real-time language translation, voice-assisted navigation and smart note-taking. Samsung has said they will provide up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge, with the charging case offering up to seven additional full charges. Samsung has collaborated with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker on the design, and the glasses are expected to compete directly with Meta in the growing smart glasses market.
