49 MILLION VOTES ALREADY CAST: MIDTERMS HEAD INTO FINAL WEEKEND WITH RECORD EARLY TURNOUT

More than 49 million Americans had already cast ballots in person or by mail as the campaign for control of Congress reached its final weekend on Saturday, according to the University of Florida's Election Lab.

That is up from the nearly 46 million who voted before Election Day in the 2022 midterms, and it puts this year's midterm on pace for a record early-vote total.

All 435 House seats and 35 Senate races are on the ballot Tuesday, November 3, and the results will set the tone for President Donald Trump's final two years in office.

Trump was not scheduled to travel on Saturday, but returns to the campaign trail Sunday with rallies in Kansas and Iowa.

A Democratic victory in one or both chambers could bring congressional investigations of the Trump administration, which has enjoyed largely compliant Republican majorities for two years, Reuters reported.
