THE VOTERS WHO HELPED PUT TRUMP BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE ARE WALKING AWAY

Just 24% of Latino registered voters approve of President Donald Trump's job performance, down from 38% at the start of his second term, according to a Pew Research Center survey — and Democrats lead Republicans 51% to 24% among Latino voters in House races.

Two years into the second Trump administration, the president's standing with Latino voters has deteriorated sharply, according to a Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults, including 774 Hispanic registered voters, conducted from September 28 to October 4, 2026.

Today, 24% of Latino registered voters say they approve of Trump's handling of his job as president, down 14 percentage points from 38% in February 2025, at the start of his second term.

The fall is steepest among his own 2024 voters: at the start of his second term, 93% of Hispanic voters who backed Trump in 2024 approved of his job. Now, 57% say that — a decline of 36 percentage points.

The shift is already shaping the midterms. Fifty-five percent of Latino registered voters see their congressional vote as a vote against Trump, 14% as a vote for him, and 30% say he is not much of a factor.

Democratic congressional candidates lead Republicans among Latino registered voters by 51% to 24%, Pew found, and 70% of Latino registered voters believe the administration's policies have been harmful to Latinos, with only 12% saying they have been helpful.

The economy remains the top issue for Latino voters, who have grown more negative about economic conditions and increasingly concerned about the cost of gas and unemployment — the same cost-of-living pressures driving the national campaign.
