Bethesda has finally given The Elder Scrolls VI a name: Sentinel. The title was revealed on November 3, 2026, in a video celebrating Bethesda Game Studios' 40th anniversary, with studio head Todd Howard announcing it.

The game was first announced in June 2018, more than eight years earlier, and fans have waited through a near-silence ever since for even a subtitle.

No release date, gameplay footage, platforms or story details were announced. Bethesda said development continues and it will be "some time" before more is shared.

The title points to Sentinel, a major city and kingdom in Hammerfell in Elder Scrolls lore, and the teaser quoted a Moth Priest of Hammerfell, fueling fan theories that the game is set there. Bethesda has not officially confirmed Hammerfell as the setting, however.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported the game is still more than two years away, but that timing is a reporter estimate, not a Bethesda release window.
