A shooting and firefight left three people dead, including the suspect, and two deputies critically wounded in eastern Washington state on Tuesday, according to CNN and Associated Press reporting.

Deputies responded to a home in Spokane County, which borders Idaho, around 2:30 p.m. after a woman told her neighbor she had been shot by her brother, Sheriff John Nowels said.

SWAT members and deputies approached the house, attempted to breach the door and were met with gunfire. One person was found dead in the home and another in the yard; the suspect also died.

The two wounded deputies were described as young SWAT team members. The woman who reported being shot by her brother was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Names of those involved had not been released as of Wednesday morning, and investigators had not yet publicly described a motive.
