AMBULANCE TO HERO: Watson Leaves in an Ambulance, Comes Back to Seal Packers Win
Christian Watson was taken to a hospital for a chest injury in the first half — then returned to Lambeau Field and helped Green Bay beat Carolina 27-19 on Thursday Night Football.

The Green Bay Packers opened Week 8 with a 27-19 Thursday Night Football win over the Carolina Panthers on October 29 at Lambeau Field, improving to 5-3 while Carolina fell to 3-4.
The night belonged to wide receiver Christian Watson, who finished with eight catches for 113 yards despite missing the middle of the game. Watson suffered a chest injury in the first half and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for precautionary testing.
Watson later returned to the stadium and re-entered the game in the third quarter, catching passes in the second half including one that helped seal the victory. USA TODAY described it as one of the most remarkable returns to a game ever.
Quarterback Jordan Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards and a season-high three touchdowns, including a 12-yard score to tight end Tucker Kraft and a 24-yard touchdown to rookie Matthew Golden.
Green Bay's defense did the heavy lifting against a banged-up Carolina offensive line, sacking Bryce Young six times and limiting the Panthers to just 3.7 yards per play, according to USA TODAY's winners-and-losers analysis. Young finished 23 of 41 for 209 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The win was not perfect for Green Bay: running back Josh Jacobs averaged just 1.9 yards per carry on the ground, though he still scored twice, once rushing and once receiving.
