Bayern Munich's 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund may have kept them top of the Bundesliga, but it cost them two key attackers for the foreseeable future.

Bayern confirmed on Sunday that Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry have been ruled out for an indefinite period after both were forced off in the first half of Saturday's Der Klassiker at the Allianz Arena. Saibari suffered a ligament tear in his right ankle after a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and has already undergone successful surgery.

Gnabry left the field just two minutes after Saibari, with a muscle injury in his left thigh. French playmaker Michael Olise was also forced off late in the match with an apparent muscle injury, adding to a growing list that already included Luis Díaz, Jamal Musiala, and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

On the field, Bayern twice took the lead, through Konrad Laimer in the first half and Dayot Upamecano in the second, only to be pegged back by Serhou Guirassy and a late Fabio Silva equalizer. Newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane also missed a second-half penalty with Bayern 1-0 up, and later called it a strange night.

The result leaves Bayern level on points with Dortmund at the top of the table, ahead on goal difference, but the timing could hardly be worse. Bayern face a crucial Champions League trip to Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, now short of several first-choice attackers and still without head coach Vincent Kompany on the touchline following his recent hospital treatment.
