JAY-Z IS HEADLINING THE SUPER BOWL: Hov Picks Himself for Halftime
After years of picking the halftime acts through Roc Nation, Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium.

Jay-Z is headlining the Super Bowl. The NFL announced Monday night that Hov will take the stage for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The twist is the best part: for years, Jay-Z has been the man picking the halftime acts. Through his company Roc Nation, which partnered with the NFL in 2019, he helped shape the modern halftime era — the shows that turned the 12-minute break into the biggest concert stage in America. Now he picked himself.
This run continues to be a dream come true, Jay-Z said in the announcement.
The timing is no accident. The show lands 30 years after Reasonable Doubt, the 1996 debut that made Shawn Carter from Brooklyn's Marcy Projects into one of the greatest rappers alive — and eventually into a billionaire businessman with interests in music, sports, fashion, and spirits.
The halftime show has become a cultural event of its own, routinely drawing more than 100 million viewers in the U.S. alone. Under the Roc Nation era, the stage has hosted Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and the all-star West Coast bill of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent.
What Jay-Z does with his own set is the question everyone will spend the next 15 months debating. Three decades of hits gives him more material than almost anyone alive — from Hard Knock Life to Empire State of Mind — and a stage built for spectacle.

The halftime show is also a business story. Roc Nation's partnership with the NFL, which began in 2019, gave Jay-Z's company a central role in the league's entertainment strategy — advising on the halftime show and the league's social justice initiatives. The announcement makes the architect the headliner.
Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium, the Inglewood home of the Rams and Chargers, which previously hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022. The Valentine's Day date is itself unusual — the latest Super Bowl date on the calendar — giving the league's biggest night a different kind of spotlight.
